GREEN CHURCH

GREEN AMENDMENT

The Greenwich Sustainability Committee in partnership with the Round Hill Community Church hosted a conversation with Maya K. van Rossum, leader and founder of the national movement for an environmental rights amendment in every state. Today Connecticut has an Environmental Rights Amendment before its legislature and could join Pennsylvania, New York, and Montana in enshrining that right into its constitution. Learn how the CT Environmental Rights Amendment can empower all people to claim the right to clean air and water, a stable climate, and a healthy landscape, and how you can advocate for that inalienable right. CREATION CARE EVENT

On October 12, 2023, we were privileged to partner with the Interreligious Eco-Justice Network to present a program at Round Hill Community Church entitled, "Finding Hope & Taking Action in the Climate Crisis."

COMPOSTING

RHCC has won an award! Waste Free Greenwich, in partnership with the Town of Greenwich, was pleased to present a Waste Warrior Award to Round Hill Community Church, in recognition of your support of the Greenwich Food Scrap Recycling Program.

Bring your food scraps for composting each week on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon. If you are interested in assisting at the collection site, please email Julie at Waste Free Greenwich.

SOLAR

By the end of 2021, our church had committed to installing solar panels on three buildings on our campus in order to generate our own electricity from the energy of the sun, without producing carbon dioxide. We had secured an installer and a partner to finance the project for eight years.

The panels were installed on the Church, the Community House, and the Parsonage and have been activated to do their magic!

COMPOSTING

RHCC celebrated the beauty of our planet and reflected on our responsibility to care for it. Following the service, we watched Skyhunters in Flight, a dynamic educational program featuring trained wild birds of prey including owls, hawks, and falcons. The exhibition will be led by Teddy and Brian Bradley. Brian, a Master Falconer, has over thirty years of experience training and flying raptors. Teddy explains, "It is our hope that while everyone is being entertained, they also understand how important these animals are to the environment."

Earth Day – it’s for the birds!
